18 | OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2021 | June is here and we should be seeing more and more restrictions being lifted from various businesses. We are happy to report that this month there will be several RV Club events happening. First is a day trip to Dana Point to sail on the tall ship, Spirit of Dana Point. Accompanying this day trip is a Pop-Up to the San Mateo Campground at San Onofre. At the end of the month, the RV Club will be having a Drive-In Summer Concert at the RV Lot. A full report and photos of all these events will be in next month's magazine. Last April, 11 RV rigs ventured onto the Silver Strand State Beach in Coronado for the first Pop-Up trip of 2021. The weather was breezy, sunny, windy, and gloomy — but still there was lots of biking, beach walking, shell collecting, kite flying, kayaking, and gathering time. The best part of the trip was, for three nights in a row, Jo and Roger Marr created the best "Club House at the Silver Strand" for happy hour and play time. The Jenga Giant game kept everyone cheering, nail biting and standing on their toes. Thank you Roger and Jo for your hospitality! Also, thank you to the hosts for this trip, Tatis Cervantes-Aiken, and Lawrence Aiken. Coming up in August will be another day trip, Day at The Races at Del Mar. And the next big trip planned is September 13 – 18 when club members will be traveling to Solvang for "Days of Wine and Windmills." The wagon masters for this trip will be Bob and Kathi Harper, Steve and Lisa Broadway, and Jim and Bev Gillian. Are you interested in joining the RV Club? Please contact Joe Moore, V.P. Membership, at jmoore334@gmail.com. RV Club Garden Club The Garden Club participated in the community driveway sale in April. Thank you to the generous folks who donated plants and pots, and to club members who prepared for and worked at the sale. Special appreciation goes to Barbara and Mike Kenney for loaning us their garage and driveway for the event. The proceeds from the sale will be used to enhance and benefit the community. In May, we were able to produce the first virtual Ocean Hills Garden Tour. Special thanks to the AV volunteers for organizing and producing the video and to the 20 photographers from the Photo Club who volunteered their time and talent. Nine residents volunteered to share their beautiful gardens. By early June, the video tour will be available on the Ocean Hills TV channel and the still photos will be on the Garden Club section of the OHCC website. We hope you will tune in and enjoy the show. After meeting all year on Zoom, in May the Board was finally able to meet in person. It was great to sit together in our beautiful Clubhouse and make plans for the months ahead. Soon we will be able to have our regular club meetings with special guest speakers, social time, and other special events. We look forward to seeing you there!
