We have had a lot of confusion regarding the use of the Clubhouse. In the most recent
OHCC Living, the HOA President comments on differing information provided by CDC
guidelines, the State of California, and the San Diego County Health Department.
The most recent announcement form State officials is the planned lifting of all pandemic
restrictions on June 15, except the mask mandate.
Meanwhile, we have temporary room reservations until June 15. Our first game on May 4
was attended by 12 members.
With three full tables, we played a 15 board Howell movement. Hopefully more members
will join us in the coming weeks. A Mitchell movement is far easier to set up, but we need
more players. The advantage of Mitchell is that the North/South pairs remain stationary,
while only the East/West pairs move.
We urge you to join us, we play from 6 to 8:30 pm in the Mykonos Room.
We offer a Duplicate Bridge game that combines the superior
scoring of Duplicate Bridge but also has the friendlier and non-
aggressive attitude of home style Rubber Bridge. With Duplicate
Bridge, your true opponents are the pairs that hold the same cards
as you would rather than your opponents at the table. We are not an
ACBL game and for that, we not only offer an extremely reasonable
game price of just $2, but also give cash awards to the winners.
If you are interested, please call John Gates at (760) 295-5885, the
president of this bridge club, to see if this type of game might meet
your expectations. We are relatively small and have anywhere from
five to eight tables. The games are at 1 pm on the second, fourth, and
fifth Fridays of the month in Mykonos. You do not have to join this
club to play your first game; however, if you decide to join, the annual
dues are $6.
