26 | OHCC LIVING | JULY 2021 | Art Lovers What did we do before Zoom and YouTube? They have allowed us to enjoy the arts and each other during this long quarantine. We have been able to view artists' works and interact with them as well as appreciate art videos as we remained isolated in our homes. As restrictions have loosened lately, we have taken some regulated visits to art venues and have enjoyed being with one another in person. A Zoom presentation by local sculptor Eileen Sprague was much anticipated. Eileen Sprague grew up in New York City where she was exposed to many great works of art. Eileen is a graduate of New York University and received her Masters at State University of New York. She has done graduate artwork at Hunter College and Woodstock, New York Art Association, as well as Sedona Art Center. Eileen's love of sculpture blossomed when she studied under the late well-known sculptor Alfred Van Loen. She continued to pursue her art in Sedona, AZ while running a successful hot-air balloon business. Eventually, she had the opportunity to study in Carrara, Italy. Luckily for us, Eileen now lives and sculpts in San Diego. To view a host of her impressive artwork please visit her website, https://art-by-eileen.net. A visit to Oceanside Museum of Art is always a pleasure and enlightening. Among the exhibitions is Color of Sound, an exhibition of music and synesthesia-themed art curated by the The Art of Autism, a San Diego County-based non-profit made up of talented individuals who have come together to display the creative abilities of people on the autism spectrum and others who are neurodivergent. Also at OMA, Twenty Women Artists collective embodies a diverse cross-section of Southern California. They represent different generations and ethnic backgrounds. Some of them are immigrants, some are parents, and others are career women or have tackled the balance of being both. This exhibition is an expression of the strong sense of community and support forged around the group. Please visit our website, www.ohccartlovers.wixsite.com/art-lovers for updates about our activities and how to join our club.
