16 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2021 | Marketing & Communications Advisory Golf Advisory We thank the Master Board for approving our request to merge the functions of the Marketing and Communications Committees and recently held our first meeting as a combined team. We are excited to use our combined synergies to continue to improve our communications to Sun Lakers. We remind you of all the ways you can receive communications from Sun Lakes: Lifestyles (delivered monthly), District Delegate newsletters (delivered monthly), Sun Lakes Life (delivered bi-weekly), SunLakesCC.com (updated daily), Sun Lakes Country Club FB page (updated daily), Good Day Sun Lakes FB page (updated daily), email blasts (updated daily), Channel 97 (updated daily). We also produce the monthly District Delegate and Master Board meetings live and post them for your viewing. We are doing everything we can to get important information out to you, our neighbors. Please help us by using one or more of these methods to stay informed. Thanks so much! The Golf Advisory Committee is hard at work to make sure both the Championship and Executive Courses provide a great playing experience. We focus on the maintenance and playability of the courses. Just completed was the replacement of the fairway drainage on the left side of Champ #4. The area was re-sodded, brush was cleared, and the bulkheads were enhanced with stone veneer to match that in other areas of the course. Also this year, Pepper and Eucalyptus trees throughout both courses will undergo trimming. This is a program to address the trimming of our now mature trees by rotating between species on a yearly basis. To improve playability, the GAC addressed the "No Play" drought tolerant planting areas. The courses were never re-rated following the penalty area designation of these previously playable grass areas. Playing these planted areas as "ground under repair" will allow removal of all the stakes and a simple nearest point of relief without penalty, no closer to the hole to speed up play. Many clubs had requested to make this change as a club rule. The GAC is comprised of members representing each of the seven Sun Lakes golf clubs from both courses. If you have maintenance or playability questions, please let your club representative know. This is often how we become aware of an issue that needs to be addressed. Sun Lakes Committee Reports We are happy to see more Advisory Committees submitting articles about the important work they are doing in Sun Lakes. Our goal is to have all active Advisory Committees share their news here each month. Thank you in advance for everyone's participation! It's officially summer and the Securitas team will be covering the Main and North Clubhouse pools. During this time, we ask that everyone please follow the facility rules and regulations. Please make sure to provide a Sun Lakes ID to get checked in by an officer. Residents will not be permitted to bring their own alcohol into the Main Clubhouse pool. The Main Clubhouse has a full bar where you may purchase drinks to enjoy. Bags are subject to be searched by an officer before entering. Children are not allowed after 2 pm in the pools, so please plan accordingly. A Securitas officer will be present from 9 am to 3 pm should you need assistance. Sun Lakes residents and guests are asked to please honor all safety and traffic signs inside and outside of the community. We ask that all resident vehicles using the resident lanes come to a complete stop when approaching the transponder reader. The system is designed to only register one vehicle at a time upon entry. Doing so will prevent the gate arm from coming down and causing damage to a vehicle or Sun Lakes property. All guests must still use the guest lane to enter the community after they have registered with the gate officers. We all love seeing our pets happy and roaming free. But remember that the state of California has a leash law, and ALL dog owners who take their dogs for walks in their neighborhoods and/or in public parks (not designated as a dog park) are required to keep their dogs on a leash and under physical restraint at ALL TIMES. Please note that having the leash in your possession but not attached to the dog is not considered having the dog on a leash, and you will still be subject to a citation. All regulations are aimed to protect the health and safety of our citizens and our pets. Please be a responsible pet owner and abide by the law and Sun Lakes rules. A friendly reminder to members of the community to secure your garage door at all times except when working in and/or around the garage. Community Patrol will continue to make courtesy calls to members at night to inform them of an open garage door. Community Patrol will also attempt to make contact with those during the day and evening hours that have an open garage door. Securing your garage door is important for the safety of you and your pets. If you see any suspicious individuals and/or activity such as an individual walking in the neighborhood looking at houses or looking into cars, unusual noises such as screaming, breaking of glass, sounds of a fight or an individual carrying property that appears out of place, I recommend calling the Banning Police for non-emergency situations at (951) 922-3170 or 911 for emergency situations and then contacting Community Patrol at (951) 845-2163. Community Patrol will respond depending on the circumstances of the situation, otherwise it would be handled by law enforcement. Safety Advisory
