Our next dinner meeting is Aug. 20 at 5:45 pm in the South Clubhouse. Doors open at 5:15 pm. "In the good old summertime, in the good old summertime…" Yes, summer is here — just look at the thermometer! But that doesn't stop us from having a fantastic evening with our friends. Our wonderful caterer, Thomas Catering, will be serving baby-back ribs, corn on the cob, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, and apple cobbler for dessert! What could be better? To highlight the evening, that dynamic duo, Sheila and Larry James of Jamestown, will be singing as only they can. Where could you get such a meal and entertainment for only $17? Yearly membership is $15. If you join now, dues are only $7.50 for the half of year. Guests living outside of Sun Lakes and are friends of a resident will be $20 per person. If you live in Sun Lakes you may come as a guest one time only, and then you WILL WANT to join the club. Spreading Sunshine Young at Heart The Young at Heart Club is planning a gathering to enjoy "Music Under the Stars" on Aug. 28. Members will bring appetizers to share (and BYOB) and assemble in a designated area on the driving range. In July, the club hosted a three-hour block party with Tin Man's Heart providing live music as members enjoyed appetizers, margaritas, and sangria wine while dancing and socializing. We are planning several more activities to bring our members together for the kind of fun and camaraderie for which our events are famous. In September, we will reprise the crazy and fun golf cart rally that was such a hit in 2019. Participants will solve puzzles to navigate through the route, snacking and drinking at a pit stop on their way to the finish where they will be joined by other club members to continue the fun. Activities planned for future months include a bocce tournament with dinner and a unique New Year's Eve progressive dinner party, among others. Details will be emailed to all members with plans as each event is finalized. We welcome new members and annual dues are still just $10 per person. We are also open to creative new ideas for fun activities. For info, suggestions, or to join Young at Heart, call Michele Walter at (951) 202-8009. | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2021 | 25 Social Singles
