Congratulations to all. A decision was made to reinstitute the 46 maximum handicap for women and 36 handicap for men. This will help balance the playing field for all participants. Sandy Moyer is in charge of our next quarterly games and I know she has some fun ones in store for us. Our general membership and luncheon meeting is Aug. 8. It will be held immediately after golf. George will be sending out an email for a reminder. The GAC voted in favor to change the way we play the newly planted desert scape areas. As of July 1 the new local rules of play for the desert scape areas will read: All flower garden and desert scape areas are considered ground under repair where play is prohibited. You MUST take relief and move your ball to the nearest point on the grass, no nearer to the hole, no penalty. Please remember our golf dress code. The Golf Department and Board of Directors have received numerous complaints from residents about golfers not following the dress code. Sun Lakes is holding their first ever Summer Games from July 23 to Aug. 6 to coincide with the Olympics. An award ceremony will be in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom on Aug. 7 at 2 pm where the medals of gold, silver and bronze will be awarded. Our event will be a Scramble (pick your partner) on Aug. 1. We are hoping to get a great turnout of 10 teams. This event is FREE. So, you golfers pick your partner and let's win some medals. Again, we would like to invite any new golfers to join our fun couples club. You don't need to play every Sunday; play when you like. We play every Sunday and would love to have you join us! It's only $26 per couple to join the club. The cost each Sunday is $6 per couple. If you would like more information or have any questions, please contact our membership chairperson, Mary Wilkie (909) 280-1451. Don't miss out, come and join the fun! "As you walk down the fairway of life, you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round." ~ Ben Hogan Happy golfing, be safe and have fun! Couples Golf Friday mornings, 9 am in the North Clubhouse. Cost is only $5 per week (or $20 per month). Tai Chi (Tie-Chee) is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, Tai Chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements. The tradition of Tai Chi dates back to at least the 15th century in China, and the practice is based on the belief that balancing the opposite forces in the body (known as yin and yang) will encourage the flow of chi (energy) through the body to promote health. You may also find Tai Chi appealing because it's inexpensive and requires no special equipment. Tai Chi can be done anywhere, alone or in a group class. If you're looking for a way to reduce stress, consider Tai Chi and join fellow Sun Lakers in developing strength in balance, stamina, and flexibility. Info, (951) 381-1022.
