Swim, Surf & Wellness It's staggering to realize that 70 percent of the U.S. citizens are now overweight. While exercise such as swimming helps to shed unwanted pounds, it's what we consume each day that has a greater impact on our weight. For example, most of us want to enjoy our daily dose of caffeine, but there are simple coffee tricks that could be a key factor in helping you shed those unwanted pounds. Coffee from popular chains can be loaded with hidden sugars and many other artificial ingredients. Going with black coffee, or making your own, is a much healthier choice. However, be sure to use filtered water and organic beans for homemade coffee. If you need a little more spice, try adding grass-fed butter, coconut oil (also known as MCT Oil), cinnamon, cocoa or collagen. Remember, healthier coffee doesn't have to be boring. Open House Wellness Events: The Swim, Surf and Wellness (SSW) Club Board was pleased to offer its first Open House Wellness Event on July 15, at the OHCC Clubhouse. Please plan to join the SSW Club Board for another educational and social event that is planned to take place in September. Blood Pressure Clinics: The last Friday of each month from 1 to 3 pm, in the CERT room, the SSW Club is providing free blood pressure clinics. Stop by and get your blood pressure checked. Swim Lessons, Lap Swimming and Upcoming Clinic: SSW Club swim instructors are still available to offer free swim lessons to all OHCC residents. Swim Clinic will begin on Fridays in August from 10 to 11 am. Improve your stroke, receive instruction from our resident experts, and even learn to swim if you are a beginner.
