24 | OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2021 | Papercrafting Club The Papercrafting Club is going strong and back in the Clubhouse (wearing masks per Clubhouse rules and personal preference). Here's our latest news. Group regrouping: We've shuffled up our groups and, while we still have five of them, groups 1-4 meet in the Clubhouse Art Room and our other group continues strictly as the Zoom group! We aim to accommodate everyone! All the original Group 5 members, who started just before COVID hit our shores, have assimilated into these other groups. Our TOTES team still offers Wednesday classes at the Clubhouse to the first 12 members that sign up. Oh, and by way of full disclosure, I misrepresented TOTES in a previous article! TOTES stands for: Think Outside the Envelope. We're in the process of voting on our club's leadership and it looks like all incumbents are, so far, unchallenged. In October, we'll be helping sponsor the Clubhouse Craft Fair. More info to follow. In December, we'll happily enjoy our year-end party at the Clubhouse. And in January, we'll be ready for Do Dues Day when we'll recruit and welcome our newbies for Group 5 once again. September is here, and we're instituting something new: Monthly birthday greetings to our wonderful members. So, an incredibly Happy Birthday wish to our September celebrants: Kathy Hunt, Ellen Kippel, Ken Donohew, Jill Lemons, Jeannie Martinsen, and Linda Rios! Also starting this month, we're highlighting our cardmakers as well as our cards in our photos (see above). Lastly, I must thank the Art Club for allowing us to share their display cabinet in the Clubhouse Gallery. Next time you're at the Clubhouse, please get a close-up view of some of our master card makers' handiwork on display on the shelf at eye level (well, give or take!). There's a photo of the shelf above, but believe me, they are so much more incredible in person! And if you make it to the sewing room, our parent club still gives us Papercrafters bragging rights in two shadow boxes on the wall. Do have a look. Until next time, enjoy the month of September (It's National Sewing Month! It's also National Courtesy and Self Improvement Month!) Other special days within September: Labor Day, 9/6; 911 Remembrance Day, 9/11; Grandparents Day 9/12; Positive Thinking Day, 9/13; and Constitution Day, 9/17. Also, don't forget to check out http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/september.htm for other September celebrations. Here's to our Sewing Club and all the wonderful grandparents and great-grandparents out there whom we'll be celebrating this month. And as always, happy crafting. Group 1: Standing L-R: Alison Vincent, Kathy Wilkerson, Tanya Beyers, Jan Malone, Kerry Peyton, Magda Kovacs, Lynne Head, Lorraine Kleeman, Nancy Stock; Sitting L-R: Debbie Cea, Betty Ruehle, Sheila Smith, and Irma Ojeda.
