Theatre Arts 12 | OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2021 | Your Theatre Arts Club has been busy arranging for room assignments, planning future events and entertainment, and getting ready for the "new normal." For now, club members will be informed of any programming by email as events are scheduled. We are so very pleased to announce the first Monday entertainment since re-opening on Oct. 4, at 7 pm! "Women Talk: Women of History" is a 34-minute video presentation created by the Quad Collaborative which began as a group of interested AAUW members and Fallbrook "Scarecrow" builders. The video presents the story of over 50 undersung women (she-roes) throughout history who have made a difference in the lives of people throughout the world. Included in the video are 12 women who have been highlighted by an actual life- size figure of the woman with a voice-over spoken as if in her own voice. After the video, some of the women who participated in the project will talk about what they learned from bringing this project to life and speaking each woman's words. MEMBERS ONLY, PLEASE. Theatre Arts' Play Readers Theater group will present their next Zoom production on Thurs., Sept. 9 at 3 pm. We will feature three short comedies starring Joe Ashby, Naomi Katz, Janice Pelcher, Anita Simons, Valerie Thompson and Dee Wardell. We can guarantee you will be entertained by the finest actors living here at OHCC. Our Zoom presentations are directed by Anita Simons and produced by Jody Gorran. Remember only members of OHCC Theatre Arts club will receive an invitation to view our Zoom shows. Membership is only $10/year, and we plan to continue with our FREE Zoom productions for the rest of 2021, with our last show in early December. Actors' Workshop and Readers' Theatre are taught by our own, Sally Benton, a director and instructor of theatre. Classes resume Sept. 1, and will continue every Wednesday from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, in the Majorca Room. If you missed the first class, drop by and see what we are all about. We have some exciting plans for the coming fall. We've been waiting in the wings. Now it is time to create live theatre again. Join Theatre Arts, one of the best clubs at OHCC. Email Sally (moki2@cox.net) with any questions and/or suggestions. Our nominating committee is hard at work getting a slate of officers for 2022. Keep your eyes and ears peeled! Sadly, we will not be able to stage our annual fall production because of issues relating to scheduling. Gratefully, April is only six months away and plans for an April show are already underway! Our next Board meeting will be Sept. 16 at noon in the Majorca Room. Board meetings are open to all members, so please do come and join us. Join Theatre Arts so you can participate in all of our entertainment and activities. If you were not a member in 2020, or are a new resident of OHCC, please bring a check for annual dues in the amount of $10 per person to the clubhouse desk to be put in the Theatre Arts folder. Make sure your check has your name, address, phone number and email address on it.
