10 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | SEPTEMBER 2021 | Landscape Committee Our Four Seasons Community is made up of four distinct neighborhoods as designed by K. Hovanian, the original builder. They are the Legends, Masters, Invitationals, and Championship neighborhoods, named in accordance with the golfing theme street names in our community. The Home Owner's Association maintains the landscaping for all or our common areas (The Lodge, streetscapes, etc.) and includes the private front and rear yards of the Legends neighborhoods. This is by design of the original developer and contained within the operational documents for our community. The Legends homeowners pay additional monthly fees for this service. As our community matures, the landscaping matures as well, and in some areas, restoration is needed. The restoration project for the rear planter (alley) areas in the Legend neighborhoods began in February of 2021. The plant material in these planters is about 16 to 17 years old and has become overgrown, and in some cases overcrowded. Artistic Maintenance, our landscape contractor, has been tasked by the Landscape Committee to trim the shrubs back and remove excess plants, returning the appearance to the master-plan design of a low profile with maximum knee-high shrubs. The cut-back is opening up important and needed access to the water meters, sewerage clean-outs, and water faucets, many of which are currently covered by overgrown plants. They are also trimming the plants away from the gas meters and air-conditioning units. The newly trimmed plants may look severe now, but will show new growth for a fresh appearance in a few months. Additionally, as plants need to be replaced, the Landscape Committee has instituted a new process to expedite planting. While it was hoped to complete the project by October, with an average of 26 homes completed each month; the project needed to be suspended until the weather is cooler to avoid plant die-off. The restoration has now been completed for approximately 60 percent of the Legends homes. The full restoration is expected to be completed by the end of the year (2021) for all 208 Legend homes. Once all planters have been restored, river rock borders will have new rock added. The Landscape Committee appreciates the patience and understanding of the Legends homeowners during this restoration project, and looks forward to continuing to maintain our beautiful community.
