| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2021 | 3 By Marsha Midgett September is here and hopefully the hot and sticky weather is behind us. The warm evenings in August have provided the perfect settings for the outdoor music venues. The Sun Lakes spirit of enjoying our beautiful amenities has been wonderful to see. Though things are not back to normal with the hours in the restaurant, a determined staff continues to search for an Executive Chef, line cooks, and prep cooks as well as front line servers so the Sandwedge can open for breakfast and lunch. I understand everyone's frustration in not having everything open as usual, but it has been difficult to get people to show up for scheduled interviews. Please be patient and know the Board understands the need to get the Restaurant and Lounge back up to normal operations. It is wonderful to see so many residents out walking and getting their exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle. There are many dogs that take their owners for a walk as well. Dogs don't necessarily know where they can do their "business," so it is up to the owner to make sure that they are being respectful of their neighbors' yards. If someone has posted signs asking you to keep dogs out of their yard, please honor that request. More importantly, please pick up your dog's waste whenever and wherever he/she may go. This includes private homes and common areas. There are dog waste stations placed throughout the community for disposals. Please use them. Being respectful of our neighbor's property is being a responsible pet owner. The budget planning for 2022 is underway. There is one last public workshop available for you to attend to observe the process. It will be held on Mon., Sept. 13 at 9 am in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. September is looking to be a great month for entertainment provided by the Recreation Department. Please see Lifestyles, Channel 97, the Sun Lakes website and Good Day Sun Lakes on Facebook for information on all the fun activities! Early this year the Board approved an updated Point of Sales (POS) system for the community. Tablets will be used for restaurant and pro shop purchases. The Sun Lakes website will also be updated. It is a much more user-friendly site with easier access to information. You will also be able to pay your house account through the website so no more writing checks to take to the office. Transition to the upgraded POS and the new website will happen in September. Hopefully, the Delta variant of COVID will lose its steam in our area. If it doesn't, masks may be required when inside Sun Lakes facilities. We follow the Riverside County Health guidelines and recommendations when making decisions on these matters. The health and safety of our community is our top priority. Being respectful of each other and following this request, if masks are again required, is very much appreciated. Thought for the month: If you are respectful, you show consideration and regard for someone or something. Showing respect for others includes listening, being kind, being polite and being thankful.
