54 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2021 | Saturday Morning Golf Are you still working and looking for a weekend golf option? Are you interested in sharpening your short game skills? Do you enjoy having a relaxed game of golf? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may wish to join our Saturday Morning Golf Group. We play on the Executive Course. Our membership includes men and women with a large range of handicaps. Our members share a love of the game. We have shotgun starts. Most of the year, October through June, the check in time is 8:30 am with a 9 am shotgun. In the summer, July through September, the check in time is 8 am with an 8:30 am shotgun. We hold monthly tournaments, an annual Club Championship competition, and quarterly dinners. Membership application forms are available in the North Pro Shop. Annual dues are only $15. Please contact our Membership Chair, Randy Eden at (951) 292-8125, for additional information. We welcome new members. Lady Executive Golf Welcome to Lady Executive golfers (LEGS)! We are a 9 hole club on the Executive Course. We play weekly on Tuesday mornings with mixed play, fun scrambles, and a monthly tournament. In addition, we participate with other clubs for 18 hole tournaments and "away" games a few times during the year. From October through June, we meet at 8:30 am with tee times at 9 am. From July to October, we meet at 7:30 am with tee times at 8 am. The third Tuesday of each month is our monthly meeting and lunch at the South Clubhouse. Guests are welcome! We emphasize fun and socializing while striving to improve our game and become more familiar with the rules of golf. We invite you to join us! Lady Niners This has been an ideal time to play nine holes of golf. We are teeing off early enough in the morning so we miss the heat of the day. We can still carry our GHIN handicaps, as GHIN just combines two of our rounds to give them a complete score. Thus, we can continue to play in other golf tournaments both at Sun Lakes and elsewhere. Our Tournament Chair always sets up our Thursday with a Scramble, a fun game and/or several regular rounds for the month. We have a Cup Day, our Eclectic, a Club Championship, and a Member/ Guest. Our Social Chair is always busy setting up get-togethers and parties to help us celebrate holidays and special golfing events. Our members enjoy our Thursdays together. Women's Golf We had a busy August schedule with lots of golf, sun, and fun. Due to the timing of submitting articles to Lifestyles, we are not able to share the winners of our Sweepstakes Shootout and Tournament. We will provide all that information in the next issue. September is a huge tournament month for the Women's Golf Club. It's time to hold our Club Championship Tournament. Due to the greens being aerated this month, we adjusted our dates to play three Thursdays. In the past, we have played a Thursday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Play starts on Sept. 9, following on the Sept. 16, and our final round of golf is on Sept. 23. We will celebrate our winners and crown our new Club Champion during our first Thursday General Meeting on Oct. 7. We'll have champagne for all players, scrip for flight winners, and the Club Champion will receive $100, flowers, and a trophy. Our 2022 Interest Forms have been emailed and returned by all members. Now the work begins for the Nominating Committee to build a ballot of officers. Next, we start to compile information for the 2022 Membership Directory. If you are new to Sun Lakes and have played golf at your previous location, please consider joining us every Thursday and the first Saturday of each month. We play 18 holes on the Championship Course. A GHIN number is required, and new rules state that you are only required to play 36 holes of golf on our championship course to obtain a GHIN number. If you already have a GHIN number and it's current, it can be transferred to be used here at Sun Lakes. Our weekly games are flighted, and winnings are paid in scrip that may be used in the Pro Shop to purchase merchandise or in our Sandwedge, Lounge, and Restaurant.
