14 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2021 | Marketing & Communications Advisory We thank everyone who has let us know that they appreciate how timely information is being disseminated. However, we still hear that some of you are not hearing about important events taking place in the community. If you are not on Facebook and a member of the Good Day Sun Lakes page, the best way to find out NEW information and alerts to the community is to read the "CRAWL" that runs at the bottom of Channel 97. It runs 24/7, except when we run the Master Board and District Delegate meetings. We remind you of all the ways you can receive communications from Sun Lakes: • Lifestyles (monthly) • District Delegate newsletters (monthly) • Sun Lakes Life (bi-weekly) And don't miss these DAILY news resources: • SunLakesCC.com • Sun Lakes Country Club FB page • Good Day Sun Lakes FB page • eBlasts • Channel 97 crawl We also produce the monthly District Delegate and Master Board meetings live and post them for your viewing. We are doing everything we can to get important information out to you, our neighbors. Please help us by using one or more of these methods to stay informed. Golf Advisory We continue our main focus on the maintenance and playability of our courses. The #1 maintenance request/complaint we receive from our members is the lack of playable sand in the traps. With the budget process in full swing, we are again recommending that the poor condition of the sand traps be addressed. The sand traps have gotten so bad that currently all seven of our golf clubs are playing the greenside bunkers as ground under repair. The sand traps require regular maintenance and replenishment of sand and everyone on our advisory committee is in support of working towards this goal. Recently, golfers may have noticed the appearance of yellow- topped brown poles on par 4s and 5s on the Championship Course. These poles provide gating for the exit and entry to and from the cart paths. Golf course maintenance is starting to see soil compaction and thinning of the Bermuda grass, especially in areas with high cart traffic. This gating may not always be convenient, but it is important for redirecting traffic patterns to more robust areas to avoid serious deterioration of turf. The location of these gates will move frequently to change traffic patterns especially with the continued use of single carts. By following this gating system we can protect the turf and playing conditions on the Championship Course. Sun Lakes Committee Reports Library Advisory Much thanks to all who supported our July 4th book sale. We were able to make room for new books for all to enjoy. SAVE THE DATE - Oct. 5 Library Volunteers Appreciation Luncheon – watch for your invite coming in September. We are so happy to announce that our reopening last month was a huge success! A big thank you to our encouraging community and to our Master Board for their support. Our goal is to provide entertainment for our guests and donate to our local charities. Our game nights this month are Sept. 14, 21, and 28. At this writing, the Restaurant and Lounge are closed on Tuesday evenings. Guests may bring snacks and beverages but absolutely no alcohol as this would jeopardize the Sun Lakes community liquor license. Bring all your friends and neighbors; everyone is welcome. Many cash prizes and door prizes are won each week. Remember cash only - no checks or credit cards. Doors open at 4:30 pm and games start at 6 pm. Come and be part of the fun. Any questions? Call (951) 769- 4579 (Toni) or (951) 797-3817 (Karen). Bingo Advisory
