Makua Hula Hawaiian Dancers Makua Hula Hawaiian Dancers of Sun Lakes is the oldest Hawaiian dance group and not affiliated with any other dance group in Sun Lakes. Perla Williams is our instructor. Perla choreographs authentic Hawaiian dances. The ladies have been busy learning new routines for our upcoming shows. Last month Makua Hula was very happy to have been invited by our Recreation Department to perform at the Sun Lakes Summer Games Awards Show in August. The audience thoroughly enjoyed our costumes and dances, especially dancing to a Hawaiian chant. We enjoyed performing at other venues outside of Sun Lakes, too. The ladies entertained at assisted living communities in Yucaipa and at The Lakes across the street. The Lakes presented their yearly Hawaiian Show and always have an invitation for the Makua Hula Hawaiian Dancers to perform. Again, Perla was able to choreograph new dances and the selection of dance routines were very pleasing to the audience. Audience participation was great at both places. Not only have the ladies been performing, they also have been rehearsing their dances for the Follies "Sun Lakes Does Vegas" on Oct. 1, 2 and 3. Please don't miss it! We hope to see you then. Hawaiian dancing is such a great form of exercise. You are welcome to come by on Wednesdays from 10 am to 12:30 pm at the North Clubhouse or Saturdays from 8 to 10 am at the Main Clubhouse. It's FREE! For info, call Olga at (951) 846-3579 or Penny at (951) 846-3220.
