54 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2021
This is the perspective of the artist of the month, Christine Vergara:
"This drawing is one of my favorite getaway places. It is the path on
the Conifers of California loop at the Oak Glen Preserve. It was done
in watercolor pencils, a very versatile medium that can be used either
wet or dry. This particular drawing was created with mostly dry pencil
with just a small amount of water added by paintbrush to create a
softer effect in certain areas.
I have been in Rob Kelman's Mixed Media Art Class for ten years
now and it is one of the biggest joys in my life. I first joined the class
to learn basic drawing skills and over the years have moved on to
work in color using various media, including watercolor pencils and
acrylic paint. It's a lovely class. There is no competition!
Everyone is at a different stage of their own unique artistic journey
and it's nice to have companions along the way. Rob sets the tone,
which is nothing but support and encouragement of each other's work.
Please come and explore your own creativity.."
Classes are Mondays 10 am to 12 noon and Wednesdays 6 to 8 pm
in the Arts & Crafts Room at The Lodge. There is a nominal $5 fee
per person, per session. If you have any questions, call Rob Kelman
at (951) 992-9156. ~ Rob Kelman
