62 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2021
Table tennis is one of the few activities in our community that is
also an Olympic sport. On the global stage, the Chinese teams have
dominated the sport of table tennis for decades, but with the quality
of the U.S. players who entered the Olympic Games this year, our
chances for advancement looked better than ever.
Kanak Jha and Lily Zhang (pictured below), who both play out of
the Bay Area, are former #1 players who traveled to Tokyo for the U.S.
Unfortunately, after some hard fought and competitive matches,
we were eliminated by some very strong teams from Sweden and
Chinese Taiwan.
On the local level, it is great to see the Four Seasons Table Tennis
Club back in full form. Although the ping pong tables at The Courts
are available on a first-come/first serve basis, the beginner and
intermediate players start their session at 2 pm each day for both
singles and doubles.
Those members who wish to play table tennis at a more advanced
level are meeting at 10:30 am on Tuesdays for some very competitive
play.
The Four Seasons Table Tennis Club is open to any and all residents
who wish to learn the game of ping pong, or haven't played the sport
in decades and want to get back into it. We have an abundance of
paddles and balls at your disposal.
See you at The Courts. ~ Bob Rubenstein, brube88@gmail.com
