COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD | THE COLONY NEWS | SEPTEMBER 2021 | 17 I have been a professional personal trainer and group exercise instructor for 40 years, and I am offering two B.A.S.S.S (Balance, Agility, Stability, Strength and Speed) classes for FREE to Colony residents who are still active in sports and or exercise. The dates are Wednesday, Sept. 22 and Thursday, Sept. 23, from 12 to 2:30 pm, in the Auditorium. Each class will focus on how to develop one's core to enhance performance, strengthen muscles to reduce injuries and improve balance to avoid falls. Everyone will learn how to use foam rollers, along with proper stretch techniques. Drills will be introduced that can be applied to everyone's specific sport or need. A sign-up sheet for each class will be posted by the paddle/pickleball courts. B.A.S.S.S. Training Classes New Places Coming To Murrieta By Cece Gordon • An Amazon grocery store is under construction at the Town Center Plaza • Toast Restaurant and Raising Canes are also under construction. • New in town is Kan Zaman, a sit-down Middle Eastern restaurant at 39400 Murrieta Hot Springs Rd, Murrieta. • Belching Beaver, a new brewery, just opened escrow in downtown Murrieta at the former site of Joanie's Cantina. • Chef 's Grille, Rival Coffee/Sips & Eats and 8-Bit Brewing have all expanded. • MVP Pizza is now Papa Bear's Pizza & Sports Bar and under new management. By the time you read this, Colony residents will have had another successful year of donating ball gowns, tuxes, shoes, purses, wraps and all sorts of finery to the Camp Pendleton YMCA. The gowns and tuxes are offered free at an open house sponsored by the Camp Pendleton Y for the Marine spouses who cannot afford to purchase a tux or ball gown for the Birthday Ball special events in November. This program, developed by the Y only a few years ago, has grown to the point that donations have also been sent to Marine Corps Base, Twentynine Palms and Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, AZ. Now, you may ask why all this fuss over black-tie finery. Well, the Marine Corps Birthday is always celebrated around the world on Nov. 10. This day honors the history, values and the memory of our heroes who have served, and rekindles the bond which unites generations of Marines. Heavy on tradition, as all services are, this is probably the biggest morale booster for Marines, young and old. No matter where you are in the world, the ceremony is the same and has been over the years. The bites of birthday cake are offered first to the oldest and then to the youngest Marine present at the ceremony. My thanks go to all who have donated to this event, and the response has been amazing. Many have called throughout the year asking when I can pick up these items. It is nice to know that you remember me and the program. The cut-off date for this year's collection is Sept. 1. If you missed it this time around, please put the items in the back of your closet. I will call again for them next year. Thank you for your continued support! Ball Gowns & Formal Attire Donations By Rita Nastri, 698-8640
