| THE COLONY NEWS | SEPTEMBER 2021 | 3 As we enter the last trimester of 2021, the leaves are changing, schools are beginning to open, the Clubhouse is in full swing, and cooler weather is just ahead. The 2021 HOA election of new Board Directors will soon be over, and I trust you have researched the candidates and sent in your ballot. Our Activities Director, Kara Hardy, has numerous fall and winter activities scheduled, including the Health Fair, the annual Craft Fair and Bake Sale and Christmas decorations, and the Colony Chorus and Genteel Voices are gearing up for their holiday performances. It will be a busy and festive season, and after nearly 14 months of closure, IT'S A GOOD TIME TO BE BACK TO NORMAL HERE IN THE COLONY! We've survived the shutdown and have much for which to be thankful. Yes, we miss those who have passed in the last year, but have good memories of their contributions to our way of life and their committee involvement which enriched our community. For the many of you who have picked up the mantle of service to The Colony, we are grateful. We are so thankful for all of you who have made The Colony your place of residence and the positive outlook you bring to our community. Together we are excited to see what the end of 2021 and the start of 2022 holds. It is thrilling to see so many of you attending the "Open Session" of the monthly Board meetings, where you become involved and informed. Your creative ideas and expressions of support are an inspiration to the Board and to the community. The card players, exercise classes, outside courts players and the many other social activities are thriving as our residents are once again engaged with their Colony friends. It is a GOOD TIME TO BE HERE IN THE COLONY! The golf course, under the receivership, is attracting many outsiders, and we trust the restaurant will soon be open for your favorite libation and palate experience. Did I say that it's a GOOD TIME TO BE HERE IN THE COLONY? (Wow, I need to be careful I don't repeat myself…) Meanwhile, if you are a golfer, why not join the Men's or Women's Club? Enjoy a round, meet your neighbors and laugh, all the while improving your score. Visit and support the Pro Shop. They have golfing gifts for all occasions and ages. Your Board is hard at work to keep The Colony on the cutting edge of 55+ communities. Our home values have never been higher and our financial posture never more secure. The exterior of the Clubhouse will be receiving a much needed face lift, along with repairs to the outside pavilion and the Bocce court. Yet there is still more to be done, as we desire to keep our community an attractive and inviting place to live. All in all, IT'S A GOOD TIME TO BE HERE IN THE COLONY!
