After rescheduling due to a potential power outage, the Wine &
Cheese Pairing event went off without a hitch on Aug. 1. We were
treated to Champagne and Chardonnay with Gruyere, Sauvignon
Blanc with Goat Cheese, Pinot Grigio with Asiago, Pinot Noir with
Havarti, Rioja with Manchego, Zinfandel with Cheddar, Cabernet
Sauvignon with Gouda (hint, skip the smoked variety) and finished
off with Sauterne with Bleu Cheese. Our "class" led by Kirk had a lot
of fun, trying some of the cheeses with different wines and enjoying
being in The Lodge with friends and meeting new residents.
Some of these combinations may sound strange, but most of us
agreed they went together deliciously!
Four of us were lucky enough to win raffle prizes. And no, I won't
trade the Pinot Noir I won!
