The quilting ladies meet each Monday at 12 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. We hope everyone had an opportunity to view the display case in August. Our ladies did a beautiful job of showing "Quilting of the Past." The quilters are now busy moving forward with new projects and ideas for projects. Several of our members will be demonstrating new techniques such as "disappearing hourglass" and "easy hexigons." Our all-day quilting "blitz" was held on a Saturday and lunch was provided by a grateful doctor who wanted to thank the ladies for the hundreds of masks donated to her staff. We were given directions to make a "magic stripe" pattern and there were lots of laughs as we struggled to make these come together. We thank Yvonne Thompson for her donations of fabric and notions to our group. We welcome all new residents who share a love of quilting to join us. Pop in and see what we do. Can you believe it's already October? Are you thinking about Halloween? Well, I'm thinking Christmas, as I've been prepping for the November Christmas Card Art Saturday class for two months already. Registration forms can be picked up in the Mail Room or at class. I have the showcase display this month so drop by the Clubhouse to see some of my previous class projects. As you know, I always want to present something different and unusual. And, this month is no exception. As the month starts on a Friday, my classes are a little backwards. The third Friday, Oct. 15 at 1 pm, will be my Advance Card Art class in the Craft Room. We will be making two Christmas cards that we need to color. So don't forget your colored pencils or TriBlend markers. The third Thursday, Oct. 21 at 1 pm, will be my regular Card Art 101 class in the Craft Room. I'm currently designing my three cards for the upcoming holidays and can't wait for you to see them. If you are looking to get out of the house and have a little fun, this is the class for you. I design and cut out everything you need to put three fabulous cards together. You would be amazed on how easy this class is. The TriBlend marker class will be held in my home on Thurs., Oct. 28 at 1 pm. We still have so much to learn and I'm trying to condense as much as I can into each class. This month is all about nature. Please RSVP to my email notification to be sure I have a complete kit for you. I always have a few extra kits for my three-card class for those of you who are new and are just dropping in for the first time! I would love for you to text or give me a call to let me know you are coming. My number is (951) 231-3991. Or, email me at scrappinvall@yahoo.com. If this is your first time, please bring small sharp scissors and some fast drying glue. If you don't have either, I will have supplies on hand to purchase at cost. I love teaching Card Art and the $8 fee per class just covers my supplies. Happy Crafting! ~ Vallarie Clegg QUILT GROUP CARD ART 101 34 | LIFE IN SOLERA | OCTOBER 2021 | CLUBS & GROUPS
