This is the perspective of Artist of the Month, Linda Rau:
"On Monday morning at 10 am and Wednesday evening at 6 pm,
you'll find me at Rob Kelman's Mixed Media Art Class. The class has
been challenging, rewarding, and also entertaining. You may have seen
our last challenge in the August Breeze. Many in our class submitted
artwork depicting scenes from our Four Seasons community.
The Communications Board chose the painting of our beautiful
fountains 'Tranquility' by Denise Treacy for the Breeze cover. Denise is
a very talented artist, having worked in oils for many years.
Many people come to class for the first time, having no previous
experience. Through the guidance of Rob, a very talented artist
himself, and from the encouragement of other classmates, we all learn
new techniques and even basics. Come find your inner talent that will
bring joy and beautiful art for all to enjoy. Our styles are as diverse
as our personalities. Yet we all have that same urge to fill that blank
surface with something beautiful. We all came to class and completed
the first three challenges — an elephant, a forest and a structure. From
this we learn basics in line, shading, balance, contour, perspective and
so much more. Then we're on to paint/draw our own personal choices
of subject and materials. Come join us."
Classes are Mondays 10 am to 12 pm and/or Wednesdays 6 to 8 pm
in the Arts & Crafts Room in The Lodge. There is a nominal $5 fee
