22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2021 | With "COVID lockdowns" in the rear view mirror, our first outing as a club to Idyllwild in August was picture perfect! September's regular meeting was spent enjoying each other's company in the hospitality of club member Roberta Figenbaum's home. Roberta's green thumb for all things FIG goes beyond impressive! Also in the September Herald, plans were indicated for a trip to Huntington Library. At this time, we are postponing this excursion to San Marino, (South Pasadena) as much of the Gardens & Museum sites are under renovation until winter 2022. Not to be missed in October is speaker, and well-respected Master Gardener, Eben Longfellow in The Lodge Ballroom. Eben's expertise as a Botanist and Horticultural expert radiate through his passion to share his secrets with others. If you have never had the privilege to hear Eben speak, do not miss Late Bloomers meeting in the Ballroom on Mon., Oct. 11 at 1 pm. Eben will focus on container and vegetable gardening, but is always open to answer all questions relative to plants, etc. The last time Eben visited Four Seasons was on a very rainy, spring afternoon in March 2019, speaking to a very energetic, packed audience. This event was the inspiration behind forming a Garden Club within Four Seasons, and "thanks to Eben" are recognized throughout the Valley. Late Bloomers meets every second Monday at 1 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. The schedule is posted on the Calendar Page in every Herald issue. All Four Seasons residents are welcome to attend meetings and trips. For more information, please contact Sharon Deuber at (760) 500- 0077 or Sharon@BlackDiamondInvestments.net. "With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" Team Sunshine has resumed full activity and is assisting those in our community with celebrations of life. However, we want to say a huge thank you to our Card and Telephone teams. These ladies were very busy continuing to send cards and making follow up calls throughout the time The Lodge was closed. It is important to us to reach as many of our residents as possible when they are in need of comfort or cheering. Therefore, we continue to ask that you let us know if you have a neighbor or friend in Four Seasons who may be struggling with isolation, a recent injury, or a lingering illness. Send a note or call us and we will see the information gets to our card and telephone teams. It is amazing how something as simple as an unexpected card or phone call, can brighten someone's day. Celebrations of Life: On Aug. 20 we were honored to assist the family of Antionette Lopez with a beautiful celebration of life. The following day we helped the family of Tari Fischer celebrate the beautiful life of this lovely lady. The family of Dennis Harris held a gathering in their home on Aug. 27 following the service at Riverside National Cemetery; Team Sunshine was pleased to be asked to assist. Sadly, we have been notified of the passing of Dennis Crotti, Bob Beech, Loretta Duplessis, Mary Clement and Bill Carter. We extend our heartfelt condolences to these families. Prayer Requests: For those wishing prayer, a request box is provided in the Multipurpose Room for your convenience. Prayer cards are provided. Marietta Ruppaner collects prayer requests weekly and emails them to members of the prayer team. The prayer team hopes to begin meeting in person very soon. If you are interested in joining, please call Marietta. How to contact Team Sunshine: Caring Connection cards that detail Team Sunshine's services are available at The Lodge. You may also call Co-Chairs Brenda Beers at (951) 306-6670 or Margie Culton at (951) 491-4058.
