| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2021 | 27 Golf Cart Club Hey, let's hope the toasty summer weather is past! Looking forward to a cool fall and things like Halloween (and the Halloween Cart Parade), Thanksgiving, Christmas (and the Holiday Cart Parade,) and New Year's. On a sad note, Dennis Harris, one of the Flag Angels passed away this July. When I needed someone to take over a route, Dennis and Toni jumped right into the job even though Dennis was having some medical issues. Dennis was a good friend and will be missed. Toni had taken over when Dennis was having problems and will continue to carry on the Harris Flag Angel tradition. Keep Dennis and Toni in your thoughts! It was a busy summer/early September for the Golf Club, especially for the Flag Angels, almost 1,800 flags five times (Memorial Day, Flag Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day, and Patriots Day) in some very hot weather. Tracie Rodgers continues to amaze me with her support and endless energy. Donna and I put up the Field of Honor around the circle in front of The Lodge and posted flags along the entrance to The Lodge with a lot of help from Tim, The Lodge's handyman. The Cart Club was tasked with the posting of colors of the military branches for the July 4th "to do" at The Lodge and got a lot of help from Russ Brown as emcee and the flag bearers: Cecil Frazier (CA flag), Hanks Schultz (Air Force flag), Bob Vargo (USMC flag), Donnie Brown (US flag), Bill Johnson (POW flag), Rick Dennis (Army flag), Chuck Chase (Coast Guard flag), and Roy Brennan (Navy flag). In the last article I pointed out the new Flag Angels: Irene Chapman who took over for Don Sims and super subs Debbie and Larry Foster and Bob and Linda Morriss. I continue to need volunteers for Flag Angels. If you can help, it would be very much appreciated. If you want to become a Flag Angel or have any comments/suggestions or want to join the Golf Cart Club, give me a call or an email: Mike McLaughlin at (951) 973-4149 (cell) or (951) 325-8757 (home) or mikemcla43@aol.com.
