This is the day of Great Shakeout in the US. As you know, earthquakes and fires are one of the major disasters that we must prepare for in our community. Our presentation will cover: • Making your home earthquake resistant to prevent injury to house members • What you need to buy to survive the loss of power, phone, and water for several days • Update to the Four Seasons Fire Mitigation project • Threat assessment of vegetation in Four Seasons and adjacent properties • New CA regulations requiring updates to attic vents, gutter shield, and landscaping that are needed to sell a house in a fire zone • Firewise USA • And more After the presentation, there will be a free BBQ on the Plaza hosted by the Emergency Preparedness Committee and CERT and authorized by HOA Board. You must RSVP by Fri., Oct. 15 so we can buy enough food. Residents only. In case you missed it, National Preparedness Month (NPM) is each September to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time. The 2021 theme is "Prepare to Protect. Preparing for disasters is protecting everyone you love." Our Mission: The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program is designed to increase individual and community preparedness and self-reliance in the event of man-made or natural disasters. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has officially recognized CERT as an important part of a community's disaster preparedness readiness. Four Seasons CERT continues to need your participation. Become a Street Captain or CERT Auxiliary. Step up. Be a part of the best CERT in the valley; come make a difference.
