Players eater Group Actors Studio | THE COLONY NEWS | OCTOBER 2021 | 31 CLUB NEWS By Brenda Sindorf, 698-7097 Happy Goblin Month, and what an exciting month this is for the Actors Studio! At long last, we are moving forward toward our goal of performing for our community! Several of us are participating in the annual Players Theater Group Variety Show, and our Creative Director, Alan Scharf, has turned some very funny jokes into short skits. During our September workshops, it was decided which skits we would like to perform for the many Colony clubs in the coming months. This is our way of "testing the waters" before presenting a full-on evening or matinee production for all residents in The Colony. We will be reaching out to the various clubs to see if they are interested in having us entertain at one of their luncheons or dinners. We are delighted that the Ladies Golf Club has already shown an interest. If we get a good response from the clubs, we will add additional skits to perform. The workshops are held in the Annex on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 3 pm. If all goes as planned, open auditions will be held later this month or early in November. Even if you have not attended one of our workshops but would be interested in performing before a live audience, you are most welcome to participate in the auditions. We love having new actors join in on the fun! For additional information, please feel free to contact me or one of the following: Alan Scharf (702-767-3020), Chuck Gordon (661-714-3847) or Dona Wurzel (951-325-5378). By Marsha Tobolski, 562-244-9223 The Colony Strummers invite anyone interested in having fun while learning to play an easy instrument to join us each Friday at 1 pm in the Annex. We play, we sing and we laugh a lot. There is no need to read music, and we don't care about how well or badly you sing. Our music ranges from old time folk tunes to pop and rock and roll. One of our members will be bringing his accordion and we also have banjolele players. Come and check us out and sing along with us. We have a "hootenanny good time!" For more information, give me a call. Ukelele Club By Judy Moore, 949-468-7375
