| THE COLONY NEWS | OCTOBER 2021 | 3 By the time you read this, the election of the 2021 HOA Board of Directors will be over and the reconstituted Board will have been seated. The hot summer will hopefully be behind us and the changing fall season with colorful leaves will be here. For many of us, the cooler days and nights will allow us to enjoy our patios and outside grilling. As we prepare for the Open Session Board meeting on Oct. 21, please mark your calendar to be in attendance. We will continue with exciting changes to the format that will bring you informative news, committee updates, financial transparency, special recognitions, patriotic music and much more. To be fully informed and involved, you'll also need to be there to receive golf course updates and any news about new and old projects. One such project that will be underway (if not completed) will be the refurbishing of the exterior of the Clubhouse. Our residents continue to enjoy the activities that our Activities Director, Kara Hardy, brings our way. Be watching for the Health Fair, Craft Fair, the many holiday events and so much more. And you won't want to miss the 50s/60s Dance Party brought to you by the Social Committee and the Men's Golf Club Pancake Breakfast! We are excited by the influx of new neighbors who bring their special talents and new ideas to our community. They challenge us to keep our lifestyle on the cutting edge and The Colony as the premier active senior community in Southern California. We are most blessed to have outstanding resident- driven committees whose members volunteer their time and talent. The Landscape, Access Control and Safety, Rules and Regulations, Architectural, Finance, Communications, Emergency Preparedness, Library, Long-Range Planning, Neighborhood Information, Recreation and Fitness, Social, Sunshine and Violations Committees are the lifeline of service to all. A special thanks to The Colony News Committee for bringing to us each month an OUTSTANDING publication. Your Board cannot do its part without the contributions of the committee structure. Thank you to all who ran for the Board this year, and to all of you who continue to volunteer and serve your community. The HOA Board wants to add its special recognition to Mary Ann Plummer, who is retiring after 14 years of service to The Colony Board of Directors. Thank you so much, Mary Ann! Lastly, and most deservedly, I want to draw attention to the outstanding service our management team brings to us. The GM, the entire staff and the maintenance crew are so vital to our daily life. Your contributions do not go unnoticed… THANK YOU! From the Board of Directors By Walt Bowman, President
