October is the month for that European celebration known as Oktoberfest. Oktoberfest started in Munich Germany many years ago as a celebration of the marriage of the crown prince of Bavaria in 1810. Many folks think of Oktoberfest as an all out beer bust. Probably to some it is. Well some of us are not big alcohol consumers but do enjoy an occasional social drink. In my case, I enjoy songs about drinking. I sometimes have a social drink myself. There are many beer drinking songs. Most of these songs are by country western recording artists. I've put together a list of some of those songs. You may or may not remember some or most of them depending on your music listening habits. Beer Barrel Polka, The Andrew Sisters Beer For My Horses, Toby Keith I Like Beer, Tom T. Hall There's A Tear In My Beer, Hank Jr. Hey Bartender, Johnny Lee Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On, Neal McCoy Warm Beer & Cold Women, TomWaits Pop A Top, Alan Jackson Ten Little Bottles, Johnny Bond Beers And Sunshine, Darius Rucker In Heaven There Is No Beer, Frank Yankovic Pretty Good At Drinking Beer, Billy Currington Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers, ZZ Top I Love This Bar, Toby Keith Six Pack To Go, Hank Thompson The Beer Song, Jamey Johnson God Is Great Beer Is Good, Billy Currington The More I Drink, Blake Shelton No One In Beer, Brad Paisley Six Pack Summer, Phil Vassar As you can guess there are just too many songs about drinking beer that I can list in this small space. I think it does however bring the big picture about beer drinking songs into focus.
