The company transferred him to Detroit, Michigan, South Gate, California and Baltimore, Maryland. He retired as Assistant Comptroller in 1990 from the Baltimore plant. Our family wants to especially thank Ron and Jay from Julie's Home Health Care for making Dennis' last days as peaceful as he wished. Thomas Edward Kinard, loving husband and father of two children, passed away on July 31 at the age of 90. Tom was born in Albuquerque, NM on June 3, 1931 to Robert Milton and Emma (McGinley) Kinard. After graduating from high school, he and a friend drove from Stockton, CA to New York City in a 1938 Plymouth, stopping at homes of relatives hoping to get a good dinner since they were on a very strict budget. When he returned from the trip, he enlisted in the Navy and was accepted in the Submarine School in New London, CN. He went on to work as a Sonarman on the sub USS Segundo. He attended Fresno State University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. His first job after college was for the California Department of Water Resources. He relocated to Chicago after visiting with a friend and fell in love with the city. He met his wife Fran on a ski trip and they danced the night away. Tom loved to dance and was very good at it. After an up and down relationship, they finally got married a couple years later. Tom and Fran moved to Southern California and had two sons, Jason and Brett. He finally found his calling working in medical equipment sales until he retired. Tom and Fran retired and moved to Sun Lakes. He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, and his sisters Margaret Howe, Helen Robertson and Daudy Federoff. He is survived by his wife Fran, two children, and several cousins and nieces and nephews. Tom will be laid to rest at the Veterans National Cemetery located in Riverside, CA. The family requests that any donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Submit your Friends we will miss to sunlakesnews@yahoo.com | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2021 | 69
