28 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2021 | Knitters & Fiber Artists We are continuing the monthly Yarn Exchange on the second Monday of every month. A great time was had by all and lots of yarn went to new homes. The next one is on Oct. 13 during our regular meeting at 12:30 pm in the North Clubhouse. All yarn plus some tools of the trade are from the personal stash of our friends. Everyone is welcome to contribute. All former, current, and future members are invited. Hopefully there is enough "stash" to last until the end of the year. Don't forget our monthly potlucks every last Monday of the month; join the fun! Meetings are at the North Clubhouse every Monday from 12:30 to 3 pm or so. Questions? Call Mary Ann at (951) 769-1095. Sun Lakes Mudslingers We meet Tuesdays from 6 to 9 pm and Fridays from 9 am to 12 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. No prior experience needed. We have the use of two kilns and there is a potter's wheel for those who wish to learn or have prior experience. Our wonderful instructor Bear is there to teach, help or advise. He has years of experience and is a certified instructor. We do hand building and wheel throwing. The cost is $60 per month for materials and includes clay, glazes, tools, and firing. All you need to do is bring yourself. Try out a new hobby with very little expense and no new "stuff " to store. Info, Camille Meldrum, camille.meldrum@gmail.com. Welcome back ladies! We're getting back to enjoying each other and appreciating all the quilts that were made. Right now we're making quilts for our veterans to be presented Veterans Day. If you want to learn to make seasonal table toppers, join us and we well help you. If need help on other things, we're happy to assist. Bring your "show and share" or any good tips you have. We welcome new quilters and new members to join in our fun. We meet on the first, third, and fifth (if necessary) Mondays at 1 pm. We look forward to seeing you. Info, call Jan Hamm at (951) 212-6799 or Vivian Myrdahl at (626) 221-0872. Sun Lakes Quilters Sew What? Club Fall is here, or so the calendar says. We continue to meet with our friendly group on Mondays from 1 to 3 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Many of us are tackling new projects. We have welcomed several new members to our group and are sharing our projects with them. Some of the people want to create certain types of scrapbooks but just don't know where to begin. It is nice to have the benefit of being able to sit alongside someone who has already created the sort of scrapbook we are interested in making. We're here to help. Heritage albums are quite fun and interesting to construct and, while doing so, we learn fascinating and sometimes surprising facts about our ancestors. We had a going away luncheon for one of our longtime members, who has moved away. We hate to see our friends leave but are excited for their new journeys. Our monthly birthday luncheons continue to take place on the second Monday of each month. We went to La Casita in August and had quite a large group attend. We now look forward to the holiday season; it will be here before we know it. Our annual holiday dinner party is not to be missed and is completely organized by members of our group. We all take turns volunteering. Please contact either Elaine Perkins at (951) 334-3119 or Sallie Flesher (951) 902-9768 if you have any questions, or just stop by and peek your head into our room and say hello. There is no fee to join. Scrapbooking We are meeting only the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 12:30 to 2:30 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. We will be working on items for the upcoming Craft Fair scheduled for Nov. 6. It's been a long time in coming so it will be good to see all the items that have been created during our down time. More details coming next month. Questions? Call Gail at (951) 797-3589 and leave a message and I'll get back to you. Beautiful autumn work from a quilting club member
