Get Up and Go

How do I know my youth has been spent:
Because my get-up-and-go, got up and went
But in spite of all that, I'm able to grin
When I think where my get-up-and-go has been
Old age is golden, I've heard it said,
But sometimes I wonder as I go to bed
My ears are in a drawer, my teeth in a cup,
My eyes on a table until I wake up
When I was young my slippers were red
I could kick my heels right over my head
When I grew older my slippers were blue
But I could still dance the whole night thru
Now that I am old my slippers are black
I walk to the corner and puff my way back
The reason I know my youth is spent
My get-up-and-go got up and went
I get up each morning dust off my wits
Pick up the paper and read the "obits"
If my name is missing, I know I'm not dead
So I eat a good breakfast and go back to bed
The Fall Tournament is under way with 53 teams, fewer than we
usually have in the fall of the year. We're in the third week of the
tournament, playing the late hours, 5, 6, 7 and 8 pm, to avoid the
summer and early fall heat. The week of Oct. 11, we move to 3, 4, 5,
and 6 pm, as the weather cools. Keep an eye on your schedules!
If you've looked at your copy of Sun Lakes Life, which is delivered
to our driveways every Sunday morning, you've already seen pictures
of the Summer Tournament winners and read the article about them.
If you haven't seen it, you missed some good pictures! You might
be able to catch mention of the Tournament if you watch Channel
97. There is a schedule of what will be shown and when on the back
inside page of the Lifestyles.
Wondering what Bocce Ball is all about? Come to the courts on
the north side across from the North Clubhouse and watch. There
