28 | OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2021 | Woodchucks The latest Woodchuck project for the OHCC community is the stained-glass art piece shown on the following page. Like so many concepts we are honored to build, the window is repurposed from our original Clubhouse front door entry. Jo Marr of the OHCC Stained-Glass Class had requested that the stained-glass be saved upon the demo of the doors, etc. Roger and Jo Marr reworked the glass to both repair and highlight the beautiful blue-color tones. The Design Team of the Clubhouse Renovation, and then the Master Board approved this piece of art to allow it to once again be part of our décor. And, thanks to the OHCC Stained-Glass class, it will be. The Woodchucks handcrafted the frame that will give it structure and definition. The artwork will be hung on the outside wall by the locker entrance to our deep blue pool. The willingness of Clubs and individual volunteers to reach out with help and ideas is something that makes OHCC such a special place to live. Last year, to help the Woodchucks, the Garden Club created the donation drive-thru for the children of Camp Pendleton. It saved the Christmas and Hanukkah holidays for the families of our Marine heroes. That event was so exciting and successful that the Woodchucks, Garden Club, Sewing Club, and Veterans Club are joining ranks to put on a holiday celebration on Nov. 13. We all hope to turn the overflow parking lot into a holiday wonder with decorations, refreshments, music, toy displays, sewing artwork, and grateful Marines. Hopefully, with open hearts, you will join us with your donations of toys, gift cards, and checks. Sat., Nov. 13, will be a joyful kickoff for our Ocean Hills Country Club Holiday Season. A familiar face return: Yes, the photo (left) is one of the stained- glass pieces that previously hung above the Clubhouse entry doors. I was given the pieces of stained glass for the stained-glass group to dismantle and reuse. I couldn't bear the thought of not saving at least one of the beautiful pieces of art so I came up with the idea of restoring one of them and giving it back to the HOA to display on the exterior of the building. The HOA Board recently approved the idea. So Roger Marr and I cleaned and repaired the stained glass. The Woodchucks have it now and are in the process of framing it. I do not know where or when it will go up, but I am excited it will be where we can all enjoy it. ~ Jo Marr, jo.linda.marr@gmail.com, (619) 992-4697. stained Glass
