Village Vets
For our Sept. 23 Village Vets Club meeting, our guest speakers were
representatives from the USO, the YMCA Armed Services (who distribute our
Christmas toys for us) and the Navy and Marine Corps Relief society. Our
members found the speakers quite interesting and the information useful.
Our next General Village Vets Club meeting will be on Thurs., Oct. 28
starting at 3 pm at Abravenal Hall. Our guest speaker will be Lori Boody,
Executive Director, from the Veterans Association of North County (VANC).
Their 13,500 sq.ft. facility is located in Oceanside, a building that formally
housed the Oceanside Police Department. The center provides information
about social services, hosts classes, and offers support for those people who
need assistance, including VA claims or for pension information. The facility
also serves as a meeting place for many veteran organizations. Refreshments
will be served at our meeting.
For September, we had planned an off-site visit the 1st ANGLICO Company
compound at Camp Pendleton. Unfortunately, due to new COVID-19
restrictions placed upon visitors and military at Camp Pendleton, the trip
was postponed.
We are also planning to have our member's holiday party this year on Sat.,
Dec. 11 with live music. Marines and Navy guests will be at each table, as
they have in years past. Dinner is planned to be catered by Bobby's Hideaway.
So please hold the date open and we will have more details soon.
We also continue to provide our monthly Bugle publication both online
and delivered to homes, as well as meetings in Abravanel Hall with guest
speakers of interest to veterans and our supporters.
