10 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2021 | What is happening at Sun Lakes Country Club? Have we been confined too long? Are we mad at the world? Are we going around with a furrowed brow and a scowl on our face forever? We are yelling at each other, at the employees, at our visitors; we are ignoring traffic rules, going through stop signs, speeding up and down the streets, yelling and gesturing when someone confronts us. As a result, the Board of Directors had hearings to discipline our residents for violating our rules and behavior. They have taken away privileges on the golf courses, restricted use of the amenities and clubhouses, and levied fines. Who do you think you are to berate someone in the dining room because you thought you were being disrespected or neglected? They are not your servants; they are employees of our management company. When you have a complaint, register it with a supervisor or tell your delegate; they will file it with the appropriate person. Golf course personnel are only enforcing the rules when you violate the dress code. That is your fault, not theirs. File your complaint with management or the Board of Directors, and ask for a rule change if you feel that sincere about it. If you are caught on the golf course in the twilight and you didn't sign in or pay to play, you are the offender. If you are upset because of slow play and hit into the foursome in front of you, you are going to be stopped and fined; you are the dangerous one on the course. While you are speeding down the streets and some pedestrian holds up their hands trying to slow you down, why are you swearing and gesturing at them? You are the one that is committing the violation. Almost every day as you are entering our complex through Gate Three from Sun Lakes Boulevard, some driver on Country Club Drive or Riviera Avenue turns in front of you, possibly causing an accident. Then they have the audacity to yell or gesture at you and get very irate. Yes, all the above are our nice, meek, and docile retirees at Sun Lakes enjoying their golden years in tranquility. (Sarcasm.) Then again, maybe it is only our visitors and vendors who do these things (probably not). Whoever it is, knock it off — someone is going to get hurt or killed! DISTRICT DELEGATE ASSEMBLY REPORT WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? By Joe Formino, Chairman, District Delegate Assembly Yelling, gesturing, berating staff, driving dangerously, and more bad behavior are on the rise in Sun Lakes In a world where you can be anything… be kind.
