Friends we will miss Nora Golden, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed peacefully in the arms of her devoted husband, Leroy Golden, on September 23, 2021 at their home in Banning surrounded by the love of family. Nora was born January 20, 1938 to Grace and Frank Cummings in Clarkdale, AZ. Her father passed away when she was 10 years old. As a young girl, Nora moved with her mom and brother, Michael Cummings, to California where she had since made it her home. She was raised in Torrance, CA and graduated from North High. At the age of 18, on July 3, 1956, she married her great love, Leroy Golden. Together they made a life in the city of Orange, CA and brought into the world two daughters, Pamela and Jennifer, who in turn gave them eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In her professional life, she enjoyed success in the banking, finance, and property management industries. For over 25 years she worked as a travel agent where she was blessed to exercise her passion for travel which she and Leroy, along with various friends and family, enjoyed. She was a people person. Her favorite times were spent with family and friends. She was an avid reader, cook, and student of life. She always enjoyed music and dancing with Leroy. Nora is survived by her husband, daughters, brother, sister-in-law, grandchildren, and numerous others. Harold C. Smith April 1, 1926 - August 24, 2021. My husband was born in Columbus, Ohio and was blessed by attending the excellent schools there. He enlisted in the Army in May, 1944. He began his overseas military service by joining a tank-destroyer unit in New Guinea and then on to Leyte and Luzon in the Philippines. When the war was over, he was assigned to other duties in Japan. For a few months, he was one of several men who guarded Hideki Tojo on Omori Island. After the war, Harold worked at General Telephone in San Bernardino until the Army called him back in 1950 to train new recruits at Camp Gordon, Georgia during the Korean War. His varied experiences with the telephone company helped him land a job at George Air Force Base as line chief. As time went on, Harold gained recognition for his varied experiences in many areas working for Litton Industries, Inc., Fischbach & Moore in Dallas, Texas, and TRW in Redondo Beach, California. Harold and I were married for 46 years and had no children. Many of our years were spent in Torrance, California with frequent trips in and out of the country. Through his work he traveled to Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines. His work took him to London, England, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. I retired after 40 years at an aerospace corporation in El Segundo and we decided to head east. Our goal was to get away from the heavy traffic and the noise. We've been here at Sun Lakes for 13 years and found it to be an excellent choice. I can say Harold had an interesting life filled with untold experiences and I'm fortunate to have spent all those wonderful years with him.
