40 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2021 | If you live alone and would enjoy the benefit of having a daily check on your well being by THE ALL IS WELL group, please register your interest by calling Barbara Searcy at (951) 663-3382. You will be teamed with a volunteer who will get in touch with you to arrange reassuring daily contact. All Is Well Group The Bereavement Support Group meets Sundays in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room from 3 to 4:30 pm. This group is designed to provide emotional support to any resident mourning the death of a spouse, relationship, child, parent, or beloved pet. We gather together as "hearts with ears" in absolute confidentiality in a safe shared place where strangers may become friends. Each of us is unique; our grief cannot be identical to any other, and the way to get to the other side of your grief is to "go through." For more info, call Barbara Searcy at (951) 663-3382. Bereavement Group Happy Thanksgiving! We are into the holiday season and I am not sure that I am ready! I do know that I am thankful for all that I have. I hope all of you will take the time to think of all the things and people in your life that you are thankful for. There is always a positive in this negative world. Sometimes we just have to look a little harder. Our next meeting and support group will be on Thurs., Nov. 18 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. There is no guest speaker this month. As you may or may not know, many years ago we started out as Alzheimer's and Dementia Group. We changed our name a few times because we are a caregiver support group for everyone. If you are caring for someone with Parkinson's this group is for you. No matter who you are caring for, we are here for you! We are a caregiver support group for all caregivers. Don't forget about our program in the Arts and Craft Room. We entertain your loved one while you're at the meeting. We offer entertainment, games and fun. Drop them off and go on to the meeting. I want to say thank you to the wonderful singing groups, Fusion, (three women and a gentleman) and the group PIZZAZZ, (three very talented women) who entertained our loved ones last month. If you have any questions ar would like to learn more about our group or Memory Loss, call Diane, (951) 769-0130, Doug, (360) 840- 5559 or Anne, (951) 845-8700. WHAT TO DO IF YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT YOUR MEMORY If you suspect you're experiencing any signs of dementia (like getting lost in a familiar place, forgetting things, or regularly skipping social events), the first thing to do is see a physician. You can ask for a cognitive assessment at your annual physical so your results can be compared year- over-year and declines can be identified and addressed right away - just like a colonoscopy, blood pressure screening, or cholesterol testing. As with any medical condition, the earlier you identify it, the more options you have for treatment and the better you do. Some forms of dementia and Alzheimer's are also treatable, just not reversible or curable. Caregiver Support Group
