44 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2021 | Yiddish Culture Club Two Huge November Events To Celebrate Chanukah, The Festival Of Lights… Let's Have A Party! Chanukah dinner and entertainment, Wed., Nov. 10, at 6 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. We are proud to present Professor Peter Curtis, guitarist and composer, presenting a program entitled "Christmas songs created by Jewish composers." Peter is a tenured professor of music at Riverside College and has performed or recorded with notable jazz and blues musicians and has played in some of the top jazz clubs in Southern California as well as in New York's Carnegie Hall. There will also be a sing-a-long portion of this program. Along with our wonderful entertainment, a scrumptious Chanukah dinner is being provided by Manhattan in the Desert: deli sandwiches of corned beef, pastrami, and turkey all on rye bread; cole slaw, potato salad, pickles, a cheese platter and of course we will have potato lakes. Dessert will be traditional jelly donuts. Coffee and tea will be available and you can BYOB (Wine only and corkage fee applies). The cost of this event is $20 pp for members and $25 pp for non- members. Checks should be mailed or dropped off at the home of Maryanne Kirschbaum, 1942 Fairway Oaks Ave. no later than Nov. 6. Flyers are in the rack by the receptionist's desk in the Main Clubhouse. Menorah lighting followed by Wine/Cheese reception in the Ballroom. Sun., Nov. 28, at the Main Clubhouse, 4:4 5pm: Menorah lighting followed by Wine/ Cheese reception in the Ballroom. Our traditional Menorah lighting event is followed by a free wine and cheese reception. Menorah lighting ceremony will be at 4:45 pm outside the Main Clubhouse entrance. Stay to kibbitz and circulate amongst your neighbors. This event is open to all Sun Lakers at no charge. Come and join us!
