16 | OHCC LIVING | NOVEMBER 2021 | Last month's Wine Club article in OHCC Living discussed the medicinal properties of wines and the difference between wines that are produced from organic grapes and are grown, made and distributed in such a way to receive the CCFO certification. Five wines from two CA distributers were featured in OHCC Wine Group #5 - Cru Crew, for their August 2021 wine tasting event. Two pours were from the new Bolixir wines imported by Dry Wine Farms. A unique and novel feature of the Bolixir line of wines are they are a combination certified organic, pure natural wines, infused with wild botanicals. They have ultra- low alcohol (6-9 percent ABV) content and are 100 percent free from additives and added sugar. They are keto and paleo friendly, and lab tested for purity. The first pour was the 2020 Elderflower Bubbles wine – a blend of wild elderflower and the organic sparkling white wine, Grüner Veltliner, Austria's most significant white wine. The third pour was the 2020 Bolixir Rose Blossom Bubbles. This sparkling rosé wine infusion uses Austrian Zweigelt grapes. In addition to ordering these two wild botanical infused wines, you can purchase an introductory set of all four Bolixir wines, which in addition to the Elderberry Flower and Rose Blossom, you get a Lavender Red Bubbles and a Dandelion White Bubbles. Dry Farm sources all their wines from other countries, so the certification label doesn't apply here, "but I think they are even better than USDA certified" says Trial and Eater columnist, Kelly. This columnist previously looked for certified organic wines because of no-added-sulfite rule, and he discovered that all wines sourced from Dry Farm are low-sulfites. The botanical infused wines have the least sugar and alcohol content, as well as negligible naturally occurring sulfites. The remaining three pours were from Bonterra Organic Vineyards. The second pour was the 2019 Chardonnay, the fourth and fifth pours were the 2020 Pinot Noir, and the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon. Bonterra carries several collections of wines: their biodynamically farmed collection, and organically farmed collections. Noteworthy is that Bonterra received the 2016 American Winery of the Year Wine Star Award, from the Wine Enthusiast, the first- ever awarded to a vintner dedicated to organic farming. All OHCC residents are eligible to join by filling out a membership request at the Clubhouse. Annual dues are $12 per person. Wine Tasting Club
