The Solera Quilters meet each Monday at 12 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. Our group has been buzzing along each week creating new projects. We are given instructions each month for putting together a mystery quilt. The first step was obtaining the yardage for the quilt. Cutting directions was step two. It will be fun when all steps are complete to share all the various quilts. We are planning another all day quilting "blitz" for early next year. Many of our talented ladies have given lessons on various quilting techniques. We have learned how to do an Hour Glass Square, a Hexigon project and will have a "jelly roll" day. Many of our gals do service projects – bibs for nursing home residents and donations of quilts to philanthropic organizations, such as Ronald McDonald House. We will have an "unfinished business" day each month. This is to gather all our orphan quilt squares and attempt to finish them into a worthwhile project. We have a welcoming group and invite new Solera residents who have an interest in quilting to join us. November is my busy month as the 12th Annual Christmas Card Class will be held in the Oakmont Room on Sat., Nov. 6 from 9 am to 4 pm. Continental breakfast and lunch is included as well as welcome gifts and lots of surprises along the way. I started teaching this class at Nancy's Cherry Tree Shoppe and then transferred it here to Solera when we got so big that we could no longer fit in Nancy's space. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, dates of our regular classes have changed. Thurs., Nov. 11 which is the second Thursday of the month, will be the TriBlend class in my home starting at 1 pm. I am also bringing back my "Once is Not Enough" class. This class is for my regulars and will take the place of my three-card class. "Once is Not Enough" will be held on Thurs., Nov. 18 which is the third Thursday of the month. I will be bringing all the kits that I have left and you will be able to make as many cards as you can during our regular time from 1 to 3:30 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. Cost is still only $8. Each kit will have everything you need to make a beautiful finished card. My completed original card will be on hand for you to see. The third Friday of the month, Nov. 19 at 1 pm will be my Card Art Advance Class in the Arts & Crafts Room. These cards are a little harder to make but with my step-by-step directions you will have created a sure thing. This class is also $8. Please RSVP to my email notification to be sure I have a complete kit for you. I always have a few extra kits for my three-card class for those of you who are new and are just dropping in for the first time! I would love for you to text or give me a call to let me know you are coming. My number is (951) 231-3991. Or, email me at scrappinvall@yahoo.com. If this is your first time, please bring a small sharp scissors and some fast-drying glue. If you don't have either, I will have supplies on hand to purchase at cost. I love teaching Card Art and the $8 fee per class just covers my supplies. Happy crafting! ~ Vallarie Clegg QUILT GROUP CARD ART 101 30 | LIFE IN SOLERA | NOVEMBER 2021 | CLUBS & GROUPS
