On Oct. 22 the Club hosted the annual Election of Officers and
Award Presentations for the winners of our 2021 tournaments. The
winner of the Match Play tournament was Alan Forbes. The Club
Championship low net winner was John Dockery; the winner for low
gross was David Scott. The BBQ dinner was catered by the Hickory
Ranch Steakhouse. Music was provided by Solera resident Marty
Anderson and dessert was provided by Ed Young.
At the annual meeting, and in memory of her late husband Earl,
Margaret Morton donated five $100 gift certificates to the PGA
Superstore in Palm Desert. Each Solera Golf Club member attending
received a ticket for the drawing and the chance to win one of the
certificates.
The slate for Club officers was as follows: Richard Crowe, President;
Jim Karalun, Vice President; Vacant, Secretary; Marty Anderson,
Treasurer; Merele Chapman, At Large Tournament Director; Jim
Parker, At Large Asst. Tournament Director. All officers presented to
the membership were elected. The office of secretary is still awaiting
a volunteer.
Because of COVID, the Solera GC annual Memorial Golf
Tournament has not been held for two years. Hopefully we can
resume this activity in 2022 that honors not only our nation's lost
service members but also commemorates the Solera club members
who have passed away.
The club is losing two BOD members: Tom Hirsch has moved to
Canyon Lakes and Rick Cronholm will be moving to north Orange
County. They will both be missed.
