14| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2021 |
By Kara Lukasik
This holiday season is a time of reflection and I believe that it's
a privilege to be involved with such a great community. Everyone
I meet is warm, welcoming, and a pleasure to work with. We've all
heard the proverb "it takes a village" and the Recreation Department
truly appreciates all the members of our "village." Thank you to the
Dog Owners Group for being a sponsor of the annual Halloween
Pet Parade. Their contribution helped ensure that day was a great
success for all the 23 participates and their human companions.
In addition, thank you to those who made contributions to our
10th Annual Veteran's Day Walk. As of the writing of this article, our
contributors were TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), Michael Wolfs
and Rong Zhou, Carla and Hector Bonich, Kyung Duck Shin and
Charles and Russie Friese. We were also fortunate to have several
sponsors including the Bingo Committee, Carl and Shelly Braatz,
Patricia Elevi, SL Playhouse, Good Day Sun Lakes, District 4, District
7, and Image Up Advertising & Design. Thank you to everyone for
the generosity of your time and financial assistance that benefits our
local VFW Post 233.
I look forward to meeting many more of our members in the
upcoming events the Recreation Department has planned for the
season and beyond.

Dec. 1, 5 pm, in the
Main Clubhouse Ballroom
Join the Recreation Department
for a holiday kickoff. We will light the
decorated District Christmas trees
in the front of the Main Clubhouse.
Afterwards, come in the Ballroom
for hot cider, hot chocolate, cookies,
and holiday entertainment. We might
even be lucky enough to get a surprise
visit from good old Saint Nick himself.
