I'm so glad to report that our gatherings have been a resounding success according to those in attendance. Everyone is so joyful to get together and have a good time again. It was wonderful to hear people departing after the last get-together laughing joyfully and hearing phrases like "most fun I've had in six months!" As a volunteer for this wonderful group, that is incredibly rewarding to hear. So many leaving our gatherings are so overwhelmingly grateful and complimentary of what we do for them that it just couldn't be more worthwhile. Our October entertainment was our own Sun Lakes residents, Elixir, (Ellen & Dix Henneke). This was the first time they performed for the 80s Plus Club and the members raved at the song selections with accompanying projected slide show, not to mention, of course, the quality of the singers. I overheard several talking about which songs were their favorites and heard many swoon over the Patsy Cline selections. While they sang a wonderful selection of all genres, it appeared that the country songs they chose to share were a huge hit for the group. Thank you Dix and Ellen, you were wholeheartedly appreciated and enjoyed! Our next gathering will be our Holiday celebration. It will be on Sun., Dec. 26 in the South Clubhouse at 3 pm. Come celebrate the holidays with us! Our deadline for December reservations is Dec. 17 and the price for dinner is $12 per person. So please get your checks to Donna at 5393 Riviera, between Gates 1 and 3, by that date so we can get our head count to the caterer. We are now also accepting the $10 per person annual dues as well for 2022. We have had so many inquiries about our club from people not quite 80 yet, but close, we need to announce our rule that if you are within six months of turning 80 you are also welcome to join. I love that so many people are so eager to join before they are even 80 and I don't want them to have to wait! If you're just a few months away, come on in, we'd LOVE to have you! Then, both you and your spouse are eligible to be members of the wonderful 80s Plus Club. It is also common for members to bring guests whether of family members, out of town guests, caregivers, or even other Sun Lakers who may want to give us a try before joining. Anyone eligible is welcome to join us once to give us a try before joining. We gather each month for a social dinner and first rate entertainment. We are always in the South Clubhouse at 3 pm. For 2022 we will be changing to the first Saturday of each month at 3 pm, though still in the South Clubhouse. Our dues are just $10 per person per year and due by January for the calendar year. The 2022 gatherings will begin on Feb. 5, 2022. We are skipping January because December (26th) to the January date of the first is just one week apart so we'll be getting together again in February for our new Saturday dates. Our gatherings have taken on a new life and energy and I am eager to see you at our next one!
