10 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2021 | Here we are bidding "good-bye" to 2021… where did it go so fast?! Let's hang on to what is left of 2021 by enjoying the holidays. We can attend meetings and social events and have fun with our relatives, neighbors, and friends. Most of the Districts are having holiday parties. If your District is not, find one that is. In fact, contact someone in District 8, 12, or 18 (that's me) and you can join us at our Champagne Holiday Brunch on Dec. 29 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. After all of the confinement we have been through the past couple of years, even if you do not celebrate a holiday, there are plenty of social events you can enjoy. Districts are having all kinds of parties — breakfasts, luncheons, brunches, dinner dances — one of them should spark your interest. Maybe it's your own District or your friend's District. Please don't go through the holiday season without attending some kind of event. In the past years, all of our Clubhouses held parties of all kinds. Districts would have waiting lists because they had reached the maximum capacity of their event venue. There would be tables of six, eight, or 10 neighbors or friends attending a party, sitting together enjoying the evening. The culmination of all of the events is our Recreation Department's New Year's Eve Party in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom — and it will be packed. Sun Lakers lived up to their reputation as "party-goers." That is why we were labeled the "most active adult community in the U.S." And we loved it! It is about time we climb back up on our pedestal and reclaim our position. We don't care if you attend a party in your District or another District, a club function, or a private party in your home or someone else's. We should all begin the season by attending the District Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 1. Don't forget to contribute to the Holiday Wish Program in your District. Each District will contribute gifts and funds to a couple of families in our Banning School District. It will be a great feeling to help a needy family with kids at Christmas. Enjoy the holiday spirit. From all of the District Delegates and Alternate Delegates Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa! And a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
