24 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2021 | Fiber Artists Please join us on Mondays from 12:30 to 3 pm in the North Clubhouse. We are knitters, crocheters, weavers, and cross stitchers. Beginners are welcome. On the second Monday of each month we do free yarn and supply exchange. On the last Monday of each month we have a potluck lunch. The annual Christmas party this year is on Dec. 13. A potluck and gift exchange is from 12:30 to 3 pm. Come join the fun! Any questions? Call Diane Black at (801) 367-5999 or Carol Willis at (404) 245-6939. Sun Lakes Mudslingers The Mudslingers are back to slinging mud! We meet every Tuesday from 3 to 6 pm and Fridays from 9 am to 12 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. No prior experience is needed. Month-to-month sign up is allowed, so no lengthy commitment. We do have space limitations though. Right now there is room for a few more budding artists. If you ever wanted to play in the mud or learn to use the wheel, now is your chance. The cost is $70 per month and includes all supplies and materials needed. Just bring yourself and have fun. Try out a new hobby with very little expense and no new "stuff " to store. For more info, contact Camille Meldrum at camille.meldrum@ gmail.com. Christmas is just around the corner. In November, we had a great time presenting quilts to the Veterans. We are doing demos for a few new members with new things to share. There were lots of beautiful things at our Craft Show. A few of us had a table and it was a great time. We have so much talent here. If you need help or would like to come sew with us, we're doing a sew day. We'll also be learning some free-motion quilting. For info, call Jan Hamm at (951) 212 6799 or Vivian Myrdahl at (626) 221-0872. Sun Lakes Quilters Sew What? Club We are now officially the Paper Crafting Group! This name better represents what we do as we have evolved into so much more than just making scrapbooks. While we continue to create beautiful albums, we also make cards, tags, and journals. We create new items using decoupage. We produce gorgeous layouts on pages with collage art. There is so much you can do with the vast selection of gorgeous paper and other supplies now available. In addition to creating, we are very much a social group. We have added many new members this past year. Our monthly lunches are well attended. Our annual holiday party is coming up very soon and for many, this will be their first time joining in on the festivities. Speaking of which, we will be getting together for our dinner party on Wed., Dec. 8 in the North Clubhouse at 6:30 pm. The party is being completely organized by three of our newer members and it promises to be a memorable evening. There will be an Ugly Christmas Sweater contest, along with a White Elephant gift exchange, for those who would like to participate. Games, prizes, beautiful centerpieces, and decorations will welcome all in attendance. Appetizers and desserts will be provided by the guests. In addition, a beverage will also be offered but bring your own drink if you'd like something stronger. Please note, you should have sent in your RSVP by now, as the deadline to do so is Nov. 30. Please see the invitation previously sent via email for more details. We look forward to seeing old friends, and for many, meeting new friends. Our Paper Crafting group meets on Mondays from 1 to 3 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room, with the exception of the second Monday of each month. Please feel welcome to stop in and say hello. The second Thursday of the month, we normally get together for lunch, to celebrate anyone who is having a birthday that month. Reservations must be made for this gathering. Please contact either Elaine Perkins at (951) 334-3119 or Sallie Flesher at (951) 902-9768 if you have any questions. There is no fee to join. Paper Crafting (Formerly Scrapbooking) A big thank you to all the people who stopped by our table at the Craft Fair in November. We had the best support that I can remember in a long time. We will only have a couple more meetings to pull together and then donate to local organizations the items that haven't sold. If you are thinking of joining our group, stop by and see us the first and third Tuesdays. Our last project will be gift stockings for San G hospital. It's what we are all about - giving back to those less fortunate. If you have questions, call (951) 797-3589.
