FEATURE PAGE | THE COLONY NEWS | DECEMBER 2021 | 15 Memories By Janice Blair I remember as a child on a snowy Christmas morning, looking out of the front bedroom window, and seeing tracks in the snow. I was convinced it was tracks from Father Christmas's sleigh. Growing up, I realized it was just the milkman making his deliveries! At left: Christmas Ball 2019. Rani and Scott Ross, Bea and Rich Brown, Tami and John Peed, and Cecilia and Chuck Gordon By Sylvia McIndoo One year when Don played Santa Claus and was talking to all the little kids at the Trim-A-Tree Party, he got so hot in that Santa suit that we had to get him into a room to get the fake hair, beard and suit top off. I was in charge of fanning him with a magazine! Another year at the annual Colony Chorus event, we were again Mr. & Mrs. Claus, all dressed up in our Santa attire. We surprised the audience (well, it was planned, of course) when we came bounding into the Auditorium and down the center aisle with Don shouting HO! HO! HO! and me ringing a bell and doing a little dancing. We both got a little warm at that one! But we got to sit as honored guests in two of the nicely padded soft chairs from the Lounge, where we cooled down and enjoyed the Chorus singing their carols. It was just one of our many memorable and fun times at The Colony that began in 1989! By Elaine Spaan My favorite holiday memory is when my husband was on strike and money was short. We all made Christmas gifts for each other that year, and they were pretty original! Our kids were young, so they gave tickets to do chores, like a ticket to wash the car, vacuum, tickets of comfort, like rub Dad's feet or scratch his head. I made clothing articles for each one. My husband made a wooden pinball game for our three kids.
