18 | THE COLONY NEWS | DECEMBER 2021 | COMMITTEE NEWS By Jane Payne, 909-455-2253 I am sad to report that Cyndi Wiles has resigned from the LAC to make more time for other activities. Cyndi has been an active member for 4.5 years and participated in the plant subcommittee. When we needed members to go door-to-door handing out information or work at a LAC table, Cyndi always willingly volunteered. She was a pleasure to work with and we thank her for her years of service. We are excited to welcome two new members to the LAC. Ed Kamp, a former member, has rejoined. Previously, Ed was in charge of our tree committee and brings years of experience and knowledge about The Colony landscape. Ed also has a background in quality control, which offers a valuable perspective on landscape issues. We are also welcoming David Matteucci to the committee. You may know him from the Wine Club and his knowledge of wines and the hospitality industry. However, David also brings a background in Resort Management, where he was responsible for, among other things, the exterior landscape, HOA Board – Condo Relations Liaison and Customer Service. The Landscape Advisory Committee still has an opening for a volunteer. We would love to have new homeowners as well as longer-term homeowners join us. This committee is a great way to meet people, learn about the different areas within The Colony and give back to your community. You do not need experience in landscape or gardening to be on the committee. And we do not actually do any physical landscaping work like trimming, etc. Everyone brings a different background and contributes to our team. We have a training program and a handbook to help you get acclimated. To join the LAC, all we ask is that you are willing to learn, get involved and be an active member. You will need to be able to: Devote several hours a month to the LAC: Our meetings are only once a month on the second Monday at 9 am, and they generally last two to three hours. We also have various subcommittees (such as the tree, plant or irrigation) which meet as needed. Spend time outside walking and evaluating the landscape: Each LAC member is assigned to an area within The Colony to walk once a year, evaluate any needed changes and monitor throughout the year. In addition, there are times when we have group area walks on different topics. Please consider if joining the LAC would be a good fit for you. If you are interested or have questions, please contact our Vice Chair, Karl Gerlach at kgerlach29@yahoo.com. We hope to hear from you. LANDSCAPE ADVISORY By Greg Hill The Communications Committee is pleased to announce that the HOA Board has recently approved distribution to the residents of two very important forward-looking documents. The first is the Digital Census, which is designed to gather information about how people use communication in The Colony and what devices they use. The second is the Website Survey (see page 4). This survey is planned to provide us with the information about website needs and utilization. These documents will be distributed to the residents soon and will be forwarded to you by various methods. Please do us the courtesy of completing and returning the documents so that we can better understand how we communicate in The Colony. COMMUNICATIONS
