38 | THE COLONY NEWS | DECEMBER 2021 | CLUB NEWS Tennis lessons will be taking the month of December off to celebrate the holidays. Lessons will resume on Saturday, Jan. 15. Tennis Lessons The pickleball players once again filled the three courts for a morning of nonstop friendly competition in the Oct. 30 tournament. It was exciting to see seven new players playing excellent pickleball alongside our 17 veteran players. Lisa Schrader and Kathy Lewis tied for first place in the women's division, and Leo Alonzo was the high scorer in the men's division. Congratulations to all players! The October dinner, hosted by Gwenn Ryan and Ellen Micheli, brought out the creative talents of many attendees. The costumes were great, and the food was delicious! The next dinner will be Dec. 4. Paddle tennis and tennis players are enjoying the cooler temps and time change, heading to the courts daily. Please join John Knitter on the third Saturday of each month at 3 pm for free tennis lessons. This month's women's potluck luncheon will be Wednesday, Dec. 8 in the Lounge. It keeps you on your toes and helps with hand to eye coordination. It's fun, it's social, and experts believe playing Ping Pong may even improve dementia and Alzheimer's.
