HOA NEWS | THE COLONY NEWS | DECEMBER 2021 | 3 Thanksgiving is a pleasant memory and the fine dining with family and friends is a treasure for which to be thankful. The Christmas season is now in full swing, Black Friday sales have come and gone, the Clubhouse is decorated, our homes have holiday lights up, for some the Christmas tree is decorated, and The Colony is aglow. For many, this season is celebrated in different ways as our community, much like the world, is a "melting pot" of religious traditions, and we are pleased that whatever this season means to you, we thank you for sharing it with us. Looking back at November and the recent Veterans Day activities, I once again ask you to join me in thanking all those who served, regardless of which military branch, for their sacrifice and service to us and our country. We owe a debt of gratitude to those brave men and women whose service allows us the many freedoms we often take for granted today. December is packed with many social activities planned, and I trust that each of you will take full advantage of these opportunities to engage socially with your friends and neighbors. It is a special time for us, and yet we realize not all are as fortunate or blessed as we are here in The Colony. A special thank you to all who take time to "ring the bell" for the Salvation Army, collect toys for the Marines, give of your time and treasure to provide meals and gifts for the needs of others in our surrounding communities. Thank you for your unselfish service and generous spirit during this special season. We are a blessed community in our care and outreach for others. Despite the above, our community will be facing many challenges in the months ahead. The Finance Committee will be wrestling with the annual Budget process and your HOA Board and Golf Committee will be providing information on the current status of court litigation and California legislation that will most likely impact our community. As we continue to plan for whatever direction this may take, we will be keeping everyone informed. We ask that you stay involved and ask your questions during this time, and be assured that all decisions will be undertaken with your best interest in mind. In closing, I recognize we live in uncertain times but am thankful knowing that as a community we will face these uncertainties in the spirit and resolve within each and every one of us. Please prioritize the HOA Board "Open Sessions," the Finance Committee "Budget Town Hall meetings" and the golf course "informational updates" as a way to stay involved and informed. This is your community and the HOA Board and committee structure are here to serve you. From the Board of Directors By Walt Bowman, President
