26 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | DECEMBER 2021 | "With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" Who is Team Sunshine? The photo below is a recent picture of some, but not all, Team Sunshine members. We are a group of your neighbors who are volunteers dedicated to being there for our Four Seasons residents in their time of need. We have a Card and Phone team who send cards and make phone calls when we're notified of a death in the family, someone who is ill or has suffered an injury or just needs a bit of cheering. Sunshine is there to assist with planning a celebration of life. We have linens, a décor team to provide centerpieces and we work with the Bistro Committee to arrange for food. Sunshine has a Newcomer team who visit new residents to provide information on our community. We have a Prayer team who accept requests. Team Sunshine is a frugal group, but we do have some expenses such as cards, stamps, to-go containers, paper goods, guest books, etc. Therefore, we do gladly accept donations. Celebrations of Life: On Nov. 4, Team Sunshine was honored to assist with the in-home celebration of life for Gordon Best. The next Saturday we helped with another in-home celebration of life for Brian Jimenez Sullivan. On Sun., Nov. 7, Team Sunshine was privileged to participate in honoring the life of Ken Pounders. Ken was a member of the Four Seasons Board of Directors for many years. We also honored his service to this community. We have also been notified of the passing of Sonnie Harper, Doris Jernegan, Margaret Crabill, and Jerry Budd. We have reached out to these families to extend our condolences and offer our assistance. It is important to us to reach as many of our residents as possible when they are in need of comfort or cheering. Therefore, we ask that you let us know if you have a neighbor or friend in Four Seasons who may be struggling with isolation, a recent injury, or a lingering illness. It is amazing how something as simple as an unexpected card or phone call, can brighten someone's day. Prayer Requests: For those wishing prayer, a request box is provided in the Multipurpose Room for your convenience. Prayer cards are provided. If you are interested in joining the prayer group, please call Marietta Ruppaner; they have once again begun meeting in-person. How to contact Team Sunshine: Caring Connection cards that detail Team Sunshine's services are available at The Lodge. You may also call Co-Chairs Brenda Beers at (951) 306-6670) or Margie Culton at (951) 491-4058. Closing Thoughts: "A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort." ~ Herm Albright Team Sunshine
