I was asked recently by a resident, "What does the Landscape Committee do?" I was a little surprised by the question, but not really. I think there are a number of residents who really don't know what the Four Seasons Landscape Committee does. I get feedback from new residents and guests about how attractive our community is. This doesn't just happen. We have a good landscape maintenance company and the Landscape Committee works with them very closely. Our job is to keep an eye on the Legend homes and to monitor plant, tree and irrigation issues. Committee members have a Common or Benefit (Legend homes) areas we oversee. We inspect these areas monthly, take notes, take pictures and give our suggestions to Maria Donti, and our agenda for our monthly meeting is created. We spend time each month discussing plant replacement, removal, pruning, etc., all with the goal of creating integrity and beauty of our landscape that creates the serene appearance of the Four Seasons. We have a budget in which we make recommendations to the Board, on operational landscape issues (tree removals, plant replacement, irrigation repair, etc). Another important function of the committee is to maintain the health and beauty of the trees. Our committee has guidelines that help in deciding when to prune or remove trees, as well as replant them. For example, over the years, several trees were planted too close to walls or buildings. While small, the trees were fine, but now after many years, they can cause problems of damaging nearby walls or lifting concrete. Determining when to remove a tree is given lots of consideration by the committee. We welcome residents to come to our monthly meeting if you have concerns about trees or plants, within the HOA common area or the Legend homes. One final thought about the importance of plants, trees, and lawns that beautify our community: plants and trees are here for the purpose to filter and clean our air by taking in carbon dioxide and converting it to oxygen. Trees and plants have a calming effect on our mental health and well-being. Let's all appreciate them for the contribution they make to our community and the world. The Landscape Committee meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 1 pm at The Lodge. Residents are welcome to attend. We wish everyone a happy, safe, and healthy holiday season. 10 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | DECEMBER 2021 | Landscape Committee
