Needle Me
Lynda Saxe, a Needle Me club member, helped Valerie and John
Odell, Four Seasons residents, carry on a Christmas tradition started
73 years ago by John's late mother, Kay. Lynda knitted a Christmas
stocking for Valerie and John's new daughter-in-law, Victoria, just like
the ones Kay had knitted for John and his two sisters. As the children
married and had their own children, Kay knitted each new family
addition a Christmas stocking to welcome them into the family. The
bright red stocking features an angora-bearded Santa on one side, a
gaily decorated Christmas tree on the other, and the family member's
name and birthday or birth year across the top. Given that neither
Valerie nor John can knit, they turned to Bobbie Davis and the
Needle Me club members for help in knitting Victoria a Christmas
stocking like the ones Kay had knitted. Thanks to Lynda, Victoria's
Christmas stocking will be hanging next to the other Odell stockings
on Christmas Eve.
Needle Me is a very diverse group; we invite anyone interested
in needle crafts to join us. If there's a time you just don't feel like
coming, or can't make it, no problem! We meet the first and fourth
Friday of each month from 1 to 3 pm in The Lodge Arts & Crafts
Room. If you have any questions, contact Bobbie Davis at (951) 223-
3836 or Maggie Fussell at (951) 388-7640.
